A guide to the current preview
Getting startedHow do I start my tree?
Choose Start your tree, then sign in. In the app, select Start my story and enter one person’s name. Choose Plant my tree. Dates, places, a memory and a photograph are optional.
Getting startedWhat if sign-in is interrupted?
You can return to sign-in and try again. Use the account you began with to reopen its tree. If a saved-tree read is temporarily unavailable, use Try connection again. A connection error does not mean you need to create a new tree.
Saving & changesHow do I reopen a saved tree?
Choose Sign in or Open your tree and use the same account. The app reads that account’s saved tree. After a change, wait for its saved result before leaving. If the outcome is uncertain, check the original request before repeating it.
Saving & changesWhat if a save or a Flora request is uncertain?
Keep your draft. Use the app’s original-request check or recovery action to look up what happened. An error or missing answer is not proof that nothing was sent or saved. A newer draft is separate from an earlier request.
Sources & memoriesDoes saving a source change family facts?
No. Saving a title, excerpt or original keeps that material with the story. Compare its exact words with saved facts, then decide what to edit or accept. Importing a document is not automatic text extraction, fact verification or AI sharing permission.
Sources & memoriesCan I add a photo or an original document?
The app has person photographs and original-document workflows. Only add material you have permission to use. Keep a useful excerpt and citation with a source. An original file and the words you save from it are separate items.
Flora & AIWhat can Flora do in this preview?
The current preview includes a local helper for supported tree actions. Read proposals and confirm changes yourself. Live AI is available for limited, approved testing. Archive search is not available in this preview. Flora does not automatically search record collections or establish historical truth.
Flora & AIIs saving a source the same as allowing AI sharing?
No. Source saving, source sharing permission, reviewing the exact information and sending a reviewed request are separate actions. Review the selected people, source versions and message before sending. A source quote or an AI suggestion still needs your judgment.
Saving & changesWhat does Undo do?
Undo reverses supported saved tree changes when the app can safely apply it. Review the named change before confirming. It does not withdraw information already sent to an outside service or erase downloaded copies.
Sources & memoriesIs the JSON export a complete backup?
No. The current JSON export contains current tree data, with exclusions explained by the app. Photographs and original files require separate downloads. The JSON export is not an importable full backup and does not include Undo history.
